Fix Icon not initiating

Sorry if this is a stupid question but been playing round with this for hours now. As you can tell im a newb (1st post). Iv got all my roms imported and the latest mame datfile. Problem is no matter what rom i select. e.g missing, ok, incomplete. The fix icon will not initiate, nor will any of the shell operations. Any help would be greatly appreciated.....

You must select roms under the files nodes, not roms in the database node.
